Here is a look at what you
should have at this point.
For this step you will need the
main frame, fuel tank compartment,
1) 3/16'' firewall center plate
and 1) 1/8'' firewall top plate.
Start by marking the center of
the firewall.
Then clamp the
fuel tank compartment to the main frame and center it.
Then check to make sure the parts are
square. If need be you can heat the firewall mounting wire and turn it
so that the fuel tank compartment sits square when clamped.
Then mark the wire location on
the fuel tank compartment front plate.
Then mark the 3/16''
firewall center plate to match the marks as shown.
Then align the marks with
the main frame and trace around it as you did before.
Then cut the 3/16'' firewall
center plate to fit around the wire.
Test fit the parts together and
place the 1/8'' top plate on top.
When the parts are cut and
sanded for a good fit you can epoxy the parts together.
Coat the wood parts and wire
areas well with epoxy and make sure the fuel tank compartment is
square. Then clamp and let set until the epoxy
cures.
Once the epoxy cures trim
off any excess epoxy and notch the lid for the main frame
wire.
Your main frame should look
like this.
This will complete this
step.
