Here are the details for
building the fuel tank compartment.
Review your full size plan sheet and cut
out all of the wood parts to match the plan.
Note the top and bottom are a little large
and after each has been installed you can block sand them for a good
fit.
You will need to cut and prep the
following pieces of 1/2'' triangle stock.
Glue the fuel tank front 7/8'' from
the front edge of the fuel tank compartment side plate as shown.
Glue the fuel tank back plate in place and
add the triangle stock as shown.
Then glue the other side plate in place
making sure the box is square.
Then add the triangle stock as
shown.
This is looking at the bottom of the fuel
tank compartment.
Place the fuel compartment bottom in place
and mark the inside edge of the cover.
Then cut 1/4'' balsa as gusset
material.
Then glue it in place.
Then glue the cover to the box and block
sand the edges smooth.
Then add a piece of 3/16''
plywood 3/8'' wide to the front and back of the compartment as
shown.
Drill pilot holes and secure the
cover. Then block sand the fuel tank compartment and the cover for a smooth
fit.
Here is a look at the completed
cover.
This will complete the fuel
tank compartment.
Set it a side and move on to the
next step.
