RC Mower Project Page 5 (Throttle Linkage).

I have updated the throttle so it now works with the clutch/brake actuator. This frees up a channel on the transmitter so I can add the shifting system.

You can take a look at the information listed below to see how the system works. The only change that was made was to remove the throttle servo and hook the throttle linkage to the Clutch/Brake pedal. The image on the left shows the throttle at idle and the image on the right shows the throttle at 100%. The throttle linkage is connected to the clutch/brake system. As the brakes are applied the throttle moves to idle. As the clutch is released. The throttle is advanced. This system is simple, smooth and works very well.

Here is a look at the way it was setup using a seprate channel for the throttle.

Here the servo mount is in place and ready for the servo.

The 1/4 scale servo is mounted and now the linkage can be installed.

Here you can see the linkage is mounted to the servo. This is the simple end.

Here is the working end of the throttle linkage. The system used is like an override system. Its hard to see in the picture so I have added a drawing to show how it works.

Here you can see a yellow linkage wire and a black linkage wire. The yellow wire is the servo throttle linkage and the black wire is the mower throttle linkage. The way this override system works is simple. Both linkage ends are looped and when one of the throttle linkages is advanced the loop grabs the throttle pin (in red) and advances the throttle. Using this override system I have two ways of working the throttle. There is nothing to unhook or disable. Either control system can be used at any time. [A] Shows throttle at idle. [B] Shows full throttle using the mower throttle. [C] Shows full throttle using the servo.
