Adding a water jacket to a Homelite engine.

This is a Mandrel made to hold the cylinder while the fins are being removed.

This shows the cylinder setup to remove the fins so the water jacket can be installed. Detailed drawing of both here!

The fins are being removed here.

Here the cylinder has been completed and ready to be drilled and tapped for the water jacket)

Here the cylinder is still bolted to the mandrel.

This is a tool made to drill the holes for a 4 bolt water jacket.

The tool centers on the spark plug hole and rest flat on the top of the head.

Then the 4 holes are drilled.

Then the holes are tapped with a 6/32 tap.

Before you mount the water jacket. You must plug the blow-by hole in the cylinder.

Drill out and tap the blow-by hole which is found just above the exhaust port. This should be done by hand.

Use a 1/8" allen screw and a little J B weld to plug the hole.

These are 6 Homelite engines that were completed in the run.

Here is a run of 8 cylinders being modified. In the back you can see the tools that were used to do the work.
